Fees and Payment

Up-Front Fees - District Court

Private Representation

Litigating a case at the district court level can last up to a year in child protection. If the case goes to trial, the time, effort, and skill required increase. Call JLT at 952-252-8619 to inquire about the cost of private representation up to trial, and then through trial if necessary.

Low Bono

If you apply for a court-appointed attorney, then don’t qualify because you make too much money, but you can’t afford to hire one privately, JLT offers “low bono” options at the same discounted rate the counties pay. (Documentation of income and/or benefits is required.)

Court Appointment

If you qualify for a court-appointed attorney, it may be possible to substitute appointment of JLT in child protection or permanency cases, shifting the cost of representation to the county. Contact JLT for a consultation.
